Here is a good example of the down side of a camshaft lobe with Everguard© protecting it. There is not a total cover as in some of the other pictures, but look at how the grain structure of the steel just lights up with the Everguard© embedded in the pores. This is the coverage you should expect on a cylinder wall.

Compare this cam which  ran with the premium racing oil. The pictures were taken with the same light source, but there is nothing in the pores of the steel to reflect back the light. Also take note of the crack from running hot due to inadequate lubrication.
